Your newly born member of the family is the most fragile individual in your home. This little angel completely depends on your proper care and utmost attention. A time neglected could mean terrible discomfort for your baby. Advanced Science had introduced the use of various napkins and diapers for the comfort of maintaining the dryness of your baby while on your lap. However, this baby’s get-up can cause irritation known as the diaper dermatitis, as we put the blame on it.
In fact, the word “diaper” by the name of the most commercial brand is using as the prefix for the skin rashes, which is now common for us to say the baby’s discomfort as “diaper rash”. In contrary, the dermatitis is not due to the diaper itself but rather to the materials that are trapped within by the absorbent pads in the diaper. Feces or stool and baby’s urine are confined in this air tight diaper while your baby appears to be as dry as ever.
The first thing to be aware of is that, your baby is being fed uniformly with some kind of measured liquid food in a regular basis or interval of time. With this, your baby expels the materials through his or her bottom. Likewise, liquids are also secreted by your baby’s little kidneys through a process called urination. The process known as micturition is the primary method for excreting water-soluble chemicals from the body. These materials that are trapped inside the air tight diaper are the cause of various irritants and skin disorders.
Knowing this fact can make you aware of the proper health care for your baby. Understand how you feed him or her and learn the possibility of the human process of secreting and expelling. With this awareness, you can prevent the most common skin irritation that could result in your baby.
We can also see different variations of nappy rashes like irritant rash, friction rash and allergic rash. Soap and other cleansing implements can cause irritant rashes that are visible to the buttocks of your baby. Another type of rashes is the friction rashes which are commonly caused by the tightness of the diaper used. This can be observed mostly on the thigh of your baby. Allergic rashes appear to be the same as irritant rashes and may appear even in exposed areas.
To prevent these rashes, always check your baby often and remember that diapers are there to prevent leakage of discharged materials by your baby and should be avoided staying there for quite a while. Prevention is much better than curing. Those rashes can be prevented just by being attentive and really concern of your little angel’s health.
